If your gonna' go see it you can still go see it. I ain't gonna' give it away. This ol' cowboy movie is the far extreme from that last one they claimed was a cowboy movie. Bunch a' hollywood cissies 'bout give us all a bad name. But then came Duvall to the rescue with Broken Trail and gave us back our pride. But Broken Trail never went to the box office.... made for t.v. by A&E I think. Broken Trail is a great movie available on dvd.

3:10 to Yuma has a piece of every cowboy movie from the last 100 years in it. [note writer's embellishment] O.K. - maybe that's a stretch.... but remember those Sergio Leone movies with Trinity played by some feller named Cliarence..... Spaghetti Westerns.... this movie 3:10 to Yuma, is a spaghetti western written by someone well read in western novels. If you think you'd rather read the book then pick up any western novel and there you have it.

One of our group that went said he thought the make up was done poorly. I thought just the oppisite. Wounds, scars, blemishes, etc... looked authentic to me. Besides, what would he know about movie make up? He's just a hick that was on Hee-Haw. The costuming was absolutely authentic to the time era in Airizona when the movie takes place. The performance by Russel Crowe was a remarkable introspect into articulating criminal actions and the need that drives them. My favorite actor in the movie was Peter Fonda who gets a good sizing up for his past deeds.

This movie is full of good one liners. My favorite line in the movie.... "Even bad men like their momma." You just gotta see the scene to understand. But mix up some desert scenery with some whistled hints at High Plains Drifter and some occasional Trinty like actions by the best bad guy in the movie, 'Charley'. He looks like he's from some dark hollow in East Tennessee. When they show a full face shot of him he's hard to focus on 'cause his eyes ain't set right. Looks psycho mean... scairy man. All the characters have their own unique look... not like a bunch of hollywood pretty people.

But it had a bar room scene, love scene, stage coach scene, indians, guns, dynamite, horses of course. It had everything it should'a had except a broken mirror in the bar and a lady tied up to the rail road tracks, for which I was thourghouly disappointed. If you can get in free go see this movie, otherwise wait for it on DVD. We got in free, got a free drink, popcorn and a T-shirt. So it was very well worth our time.

There's the news from The Rusty Duck Ranch.
It had everything but a lady on the rail road track.

Contributed by The Rusty Duck
